im currently running a xfx 9800 gt video card, i wanto purchase another video card and run sli on my system but what i wanto know is can u run a newer 9800 with my older one and will it still perform like it should, i have 1gb video ram on my card, its a few years old thanks if you could give me some advice on this situation

As long as it's the same chipset you should be fine. Much like RAM, it mimicks the lesser of the two (one with less RAM, slower speeds, etc). The only thing I'm not sure about would be using GPUs with different die processes. I think some of the newer 9800s used 65nm. Since it's technically the same card still, it probably wouldn't matter, but still something to consider...

how do you tell how many nm it is ? okay i just wanto make sure before i purchase the other card, the 9800's are pretty cheap now so figured id buy another one and run sli instead of buying a really pricy card, so as long as its a 1gb like my card it should be fine ? and does it have to have same amount of streaming processors ?

55nm ;)

If I remember correctly, the 55nm just used less power and runs cooler than the 65nm chipsets.

read above.

Probably the best way is to just research whatever model it is. There are various models of each 9800; RAM size, core speed, etc... But again, it probably won't really matter.

I was just thinking that :P 65nm just sounded like a better number at the time ;)

thanks for the help guys gonna go with a new power supply too, would a 750 watt one be good enough for running both of these cards
