well if your not goona upgrade the whole thing, buy some more memory..that should help out alot..!! :D

I wouldn't do any upgrades on it whatsoever. Just delete all the temp files. go to control panel-internet options-and it should be in there. Save your money

Hi There,
If you want your 5+ year old rig to keep up with the latest flash/java/javascript/activex based websites, you might want to consider a maximum dollar amount you are willing to spend on it, and upgrade some key areas that will impact your internet experience drastically.

Your processor can hold out for probably 2 more years. For surfing the net, an 1800+ is adequate. Can I ask you a few questions, so that I can suggest where you would be best to upgrade?

1. What is your ram speed? (It will tell you when you boot..probably 133mhz or 266)

2. What is the model # of your hard drive?
You can find this by going to my computer, right clicking on the drive, and clicking properties. Click the "hardware" tab, and the names of all your disk drives will be listed.

3. What type of video card do you have. If you right click on your desktop, and click properties, followed by the settings tab, you will see it about half way down the window) and what BUS type does it use? (AGP or PCI probably)

4. How many DIMMs/sticks of ram do you have?

Cheers
Matt

personaly i would get another stick pf 256 memory as its prob old and you will be able to pick it up cheap.

to find out what memory is in it there should be a sticker on the side of the stick-note everything that is written on it and post details!

You can download a program called "everest" I think there is a free version.. It tells specs..

Newegg.com sells any ram/hard disks/anything you need to upgrade at good prices

You can easily get 4gb of ram and a 500gb hard drive for like $300
