Mornin! chaps. Happy new year to ya!

My internet download speed has slowed down to a crawl. Some times a web site will take up to 8 minutes to download( previously instantly!) and sometimes not at all:eek: . I have telewest broadband and have contacted them. They went through the normal ipconfig etc and came to the conclusion that it was probably a browser problem. I uninstalled then re-installed Internet Explorer but this has made little or no difference:confused: . Any help would be appreciated guys.

IE = Trouble. Firefox = GREAT INTERNET!!!!!

Edit: In other words, uninstall Internet explorer and install Mozilla Firefox. Its a far superior browser
 
For starters, whats your OS and how much RAM do you have?

I would try another browser such as Netscape, Opera, or FireFox. And i would also reset your modem and router, since sometimes that can make it tun slow.
 
Sorry Geoff I was a little tight with the info. Windows xp and 512mb ram. If you don`t mind me asking what makes Firefox a better browser tham Explorer. I`m not doubting you superior wisdom on the subject I`m just curious to know really. :confused:

It is faster and a hell of a lot more secure than internet explorer. Internet explorer has focussed too much on being user friendly (which firefox is anyway) and as a result it has more security holes than you can imagine
 
Thanks for that Oh Great Xelogen. I took your advice and am now using Firefox. Its a lot faster than it was although I have to say my download speed is still not as good as it used to be before it slowed to a crawl. I think my next move is to reset my modem and router as suggested.

\You may also want to look into "twaking" firefox, there are lots of threads on it use the shearch function.
