slow boot

I have a dell dimension 2400 and it takes forever to boot. When i turn it on the Dell logo appears on screen with a bar underneath it, which fills up and then stays full for ages before it eventually comes up with this:

primary hard drive 1 not found
secondar hard drive 0 not found
press f1 to continue or f2 to enter setup

pressing f1 loads windows. but it never gave me this option before and it used to load up quikly and go straight to windows. I don't get it.

check your boot order in your bios, for some reason it's not looking at the right boot device first. In reality i think (correct me if i'm wrong) primary hard drive should be zero and secondary should be 1.
