Slow Broadband

I am with Optusnet Cable Braodbandin Australia. I know mydownload speeds have been at least 50 kp/sor higher. Recently when i am downloading off the net, the speedgoesdown to a veryslow 7 kps...whats wrong?

there could be a lot of people using the same company, so it has to share out its bandwidth and it can sometimes result in slower interent speeds

Yeah, or some ISP's just stink... Ours has never been too great. They recently have improved their service, but it's still not wonderful.

That's not good... I would get about 40kbs max for a while... Now I have seen around 200, but it's quite rare.

Ask around, see if anyone else has that problem...

also you could of hit your download cap...some companys slow you right down after you reach your download limit

check with your ISP that there not actually having any server problems at the moment, i highly doubt it is anything to do with your hardware. It could well be spywarte and adware taking up your banmdwidth though, download Ad-Aware SE and give ur PC a scan.

I am currently downloading a 1.8gig file. I left it on overnight. And in 9 hours of donwloaidng, its only downloaded 550megabytes. You can work out how slow that is :/

ive just been looking around...and apperently if you go over 12gb per month (downloads)...your isp slow's you down to 28.8kbps :(

no. i haven't been capped.

my.php

You can see in the screenshot that its not capped and that the download is only 55% finished!!
And its been downloading for 17 hours

Where are you downloading that file from again? I think that has a lot more to do with it than most other stuff... The real question for me is: Does this happen with all of your downloads?

The file is the full game of Lineage 2. Downloading it from the home page:lineage2.com

I don't really notice if all my downloads are slow. I think they all start off at around 40 to 50, then they get slower. Currently the downloading is stable at 17.5kb/s

Well, all downloads start at a fairly higher rate than what they eventually level out at. That leveling out point really depends on how much traffic the server or servers are dealing with and the resources available to them. So, again, I don't think it's anything you can really do anything about, unless you know how to boot other people connected to their server ;).
