Slow burning to DVD. Help!

When I try to burn files or image files to my 16x DVD+R discs, the burning speed is NEVER faster than 4x. I've tried using Nero 6, Alcohol 120% & DVD Decrypter. No luck. Can someone tell me why?

Forgive the obvious question, but when you start burning you set the speed to 16x or 8x, and the drive is also either 8x or 16x?

My DVD Burner is 16x, I always set the writing speed to MAX

That may be so, but what type of media are you using and how fast can it burn up to?

a) You are limited to the slower of the max speed of the burner or the media.
b) If your burning video dvd, you should always do it as slow as possible
