When I go on the internet, my pc computer is very slow at opening and loading web pages. What can I do to make it faster. I just recently added more memory and a new hard drive. It must be something else. It is a pc, Sony vaio and I've had it for a few years now. Is it time to upgrade it and get a new barebone kit to speed things up.

Internet speed, log onto home page, and browsing the web are always "sssslowww" at times due to the volume of traffic on your ISP's servers, email accounts, sites you visit, and possible leftovers in your offline content. You can be running an old I585 system and see web pages fly by at one moment and bogged down the next. If you are on dialup move up to dsl or cable. If you have options to change your ISP you may see improvement with a different service.

thanks. So itn't always my computer. It must be the other two wireless computer that exist in the house, I'll get them for this.

Here four custom builds run on one hard wired dsl router. At times when all four are on pages still fly fast. Yet while this one and the host pc are on with the other two off the time of day or night will often see slowdowns. That wouldn't make sense to some since the bandwidth should be larger with half the amount of systems running. But ISP and other servers slow down due to the sudden increase of users logged on. :( Everybody wants their mail!

If it's mainly on the internet that your computer slows down then it'll most likely be your connection.

Try emptying your tempory files, delete history, and cookie, the usual :)

You'll find that the connection will stay the same and still see speed ups and slowdowns for a variety of reasons. Besides heavy online traffic the activities on your own system can have a bearing where something in the background may be clashing or some "bugs" may have found their way onto your drive? Take notes on the actual times of day and night when everything... kind... of.... ssslowws..... dddownn.... aaa.... litttlee...
