Slow Computer; Un-normal Temperate; Sound Problems

I got this Gateway laptop Christmas of 2009. It has 4gb of RAM, 300gb hard drive, and I thought it was pretty good in the beginning. Now, I have temperatures at about 90C (yes Celcius, not fahrenheit). Does it have something to do with my fan, because my computer gets very, very, very hot and can it be the cause of my computer being slow? And also, whenever I plug in an external sound device, such as speakers or headphones, it makes my computer lag so bad to the point that I can't really do anything. I would just like to know what can be a cause of that. Thanks for the help.

There could be a lot of dust that has built up inside and the fan has quit or slowed, also the heat grease under the processor may not have been done well.

Get some canned air and blow out every port you can, if you are feeling extra up to it then take apart the laptop and blow everything out.
