Start here.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here, here, here or here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

If you continue to experience problems after doing this, please post a HijackThis log by doing the following:

Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log

ah i think people in here are a little advanced for me. i don't really know anything about computers. can you tell me how to check what processor and RAM amount and type i have? thanks

Right click on "my computer" icon and click on properties. On the general tab down towards the bottom will be a list of your specs, will list your processor and how much ram is installed.

thanks, i think this is the info you're looking for-

mobile AMD athlon

508MHz and 480MB of RAM

It depends, if this is a laptop, its probably throttling the speed back. What model of computer is this? So we can get original system specs. You would need more ram though.

haha ok, so i guess thats where my problem lies. what should i do then? get some more RAM or a bigger/faster processor or something?

Give me the brand and model of computer you are using so i can look up exact specs of it.

The information I got searching the Internet is as follows:

HP Pavilion ZE4820EA
Standard Memory: 256 megabytes (removable)
Maximum Memory: 1.0 gigabyte
Memory Expansion: 2 sockets
Memory Comments: PC-2100 DDR SDRAM SoDIMMs
Processor Type: AMD Athlon XP-M 2800+ (2.133 gigahertz)
Model Comments: 266MHz

He has 512 megabytes of RAM. Likely he needs to defragment his hard drive, clean up his operating system, and upgrade his RAM.

Go to this link and look at the instructions I have posted here:

Defiently need more ram. may also check task manager and see what all is running in the background. But the main problem is the ram.

I have 6Gb
In my opinon now days:
4 GB minimum
6 GB to fill your needs for the present and the near future
8 GB Everything you ever need for a while

ok thanks everyone, looks like ram is needed. cheers for the info 2048 but i didn't even know what a lot of the stuff that was in start up was. but i guess i'll learn this stuff as i go along. also yeah, i think theres only 2 memory sockets for expansion and they're both being used. i remember a friend coming round and adding to it. 1gb max then eh? i'll see to replacing the ram cards (if thats what they're called) soon

I don't think you are going to need more than 768 megabytes of RAM. The performance difference will be very small between 768 megabytes and 1024 megabytes of memory. Save yourself some money and just get a 512 megabyte module of RAM. I wouldn't spend more than $30.

If you are interested I have a 512 megabyte module of RAM that would probably work in your computer. It is a DDR 333 (PC 2700) 512 megabyte 200-pin G.Skill module of RAM. I will sell it to you for $5 free shipping if you live in the mainland U.S.A.

thanks for the offer megabytes but i live in england so it might be a bit costly maybe on the postage and package, i'll just buy one myself round here though.

Hello Friends,

This issue can be caused by any of the below possibilities. By which your computer is running slow.
1. Several software programs have been installed/uninstalled leaving behind bad files and/or confusing the software.
2. Data Corruption.
3. Missing Windows updates / Outdated drivers.
4. Computer is overheating.
5. Corrupt OS.
6. Bad Hardware.

Thanks,
James
