Slow computers

I don't know exactly where to post this, but here goes. I use two Compaq Presarios, A SR1923wm and a SR1053wm, Windows XP, Firefox. I use them mostly for Facebook. I play Farmville, Cityville and Frontierville. Until recently they worked ok. About 2 or 3 weeks back they started slowing down and resetting my games. I have run Avaxt Anti-virus, malwarebytes,ccleaner, disk check and repair and several others. On the 1923 I did a complete reinstall, both are still really slow especially the 1923. T It loads Firefox slow, stops during a game and resets. I would appreciate any help.

i think u should get escan antivirus it has a nice firewall protection against malware, spyware, and adware. please try it but before installing it please uninstall ur avaxt antivirus
 
heya mate it sounds like a malware problem, i wouldnt download or install anyrthing yet, theres an admin on here called johnb555 i think, go to the computer security section and ask how you go about sorting out a possible malware problem, he will help you as he has done may people.

thats your best bet here
 
This doesn't seem like its a malware issue. Most likely the problem you are having is that you only have 512mb of memory installed on both machines as far as the slowness goes.

I checked the specs for the 1923 and it only shipped with 512mb. Also if the machines are actually rebooting then its seems there is an operating system or hardware issue. Lets disable the automatic restart on system failure so that the next time it wants to restart it will give you a blue screen code instead of restarting.

Restart the pc and press the F8 button to access safe mode options. Use the arrow keys to highlight "disable automatic restart on system failure" and hit enter. It will now boot into windows like normal. Use the systems and see if they will give the infamous BSOD - blue screen of death. This screen should give you some information on why it errored such as a stop code or what file was causing the issue.

If you would like for me to check your logs for infections then do the following.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from here or here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click mbam-setup.exe and follow the prompts to install the program.
  • At the end, be sure a checkmark is placed next to
    • Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
    • and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
  • then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. Please keep updating until it says you have the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select Perform quick scan, then click Scan.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Be sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • A log will be saved automatically which you can access by clicking on the Logs tab within Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

If for some reason Malwarebytes will not install or run please download and run Rkill.scr, Rkill.exe, or Rkill.com but DO NOT reboot the system and then try installing or running Malwarebytes. If Rkill (which is a black box) appears and then disappears right away or you get a message saying rkill is infected, keep trying to run rkill until it over powers the infection and temporarily kills it. Once a log appears on the screen, you can try running malwarebytes or downloading other programs.



Download the HijackThis installer from here.
Run the installer and choose Install, indicating that you accept the licence agreement. The installer will place a shortcut on your desktop and launch HijackThis.

Click Do a system scan and save a logfile

Most of what HijackThis lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Post the logfile that HijackThis produces along with the Malwarebytes Anti-Malware log
 
You said that it resets itself? Download HWMonitor from here:

it will show your temperatures. Either post with what they are sat at, or post a screenshot of them. If they are high and your system has never been physically cleaned, clean it out, it could very well be overheating, even if that isn't the actual root cause of your problem.

I agree with john that it doesn't sounds like any sort of malware issue and that it is more than likely it is your hardware specs that are causing you problems
 
1. Clean the dust out of your computer using compressed air in a can.
2. reload windows on your computer
3. put AVG free antivirus on your computer
4. check what and how much memory you got and buy more
 
This is the 1923, I add 512, so it has 1g memory. I ran Malwarebytes AntMalware, it said no malicious found. Here are the Malwarebytes and Hi-Jack this logfiles. Thank You;

I don't see any issues that would be causing that. You are running an outdated version of java which has security vulnerabilities though. Did you disable the automatic restart on system faillure? We need to get some kind of error code to figure out where to start diagnosing.
 
I have done everything everyone suggested including disabling the automatic restart, cleaning inside comp and installing newest Java, nothing. I have tried antispyware and antivirus. If it is a virus or spyware I need a deeper search. The only error I have received lately is, Run time error 440 Automation error. Any suggestions?
