Slow fps rate

I have recently bought Star Wars Battlefront 2 as some people might know because of another in the network section. On some levels the fps rate goes really low and the game is slow, I was wondering if updating my graphics card driver would help to stop this from happening. It only happens on the bigger maps.
 
Updating the driver will do practically nothing to speed up the functions of the graphics card. If you want to play your games at higher frame rates, you really need to get new hardware.
 
a nvidia geforce4 mx 440 with AGP8X, its says on the game that it shouldnt even work with it, but it does.
 
well theres ur reason why u have slow fps rate. ur v-card is being over used so it can work at its best. either get a new v-card or play the game with slow fps. i wouldnt continue playing bcus it might wreak ur v-card
 
if the card breaks ill get another one, but im not spending a load of money on a new graphics card for a computer that is quite old. I will just put up with the slow fps rate, it only happens on the bigger maps so i will try to avoid playing on them much and on the whole game

Graphics cards are designed to work at 100% strain, you won't break it just because it's unable to sustain a smooth frame rate. You're fine continuing to use it, so long as you understand the hardware's limitations.
 
I am glad that i can continue to use it because it is a good game, the slow fps rate doesnt matter that much because it only happens on the bigger maps.

But i want to know why the game works when my graphics card isnt supported by it, i was expecting it not to work at all when i found out.

Games tend to list a number of cards that are required for the game to be played how it was designed to be played - i.e. smooth. Just because it isn't listed, doesn't mean it's not going to be supported. In truth, you'll find most Geforce cards will work, but when you get down to the older models you may find they won't give you enough acceleration for the game to be played at all. I think you're just lucky. :)

Like Prince of Persia Sands of Time, it doesn't support GF4MX440. But I did some tweaking and used a program, can't remember what it's called, and I got it to work just fine. Good fps, only bad thing was that the dagger of time was invisible. :P
 
i get good fps on most maps in the game except for the bigger ones, is this because the graphics card have to create more images? would you say that my model is old?

Your model is old, and by definition older models are slower at processing. Bigger maps do tax a card more because there's more variables to compute, there's more shapes making up the environment, and each one has to be calculated.
 
The GeForce 4 MX440 is basically as good as a GeForce 2 card. It's a DX7 card while most other GF4 series cards are DX8.

You could try to overclock it, but that is a really dated card.
