about last august i built my gaming PC and for some reason it isn't fast during boot up and for web surfing or anything non game related :(

the specs are
mobo: asus sabertooth x58
ram: 8gb ddr3 ram
CPU: intel i7
storage: 2tb hd and a 55gb ssd for my os
video card: nvidia gtx 560ti (x2) on sli
CPU fan:coolermaster v6gt for cooling
and i have a 1200 watt corsair psu
for the case i have a corsair 600t

can anyone help me with my slow computer and hopefully help me make it run faster?

i am currently overclocking it to 3.33 also

(side note) there is a really annoying rattling noise and i cant for the life of me find out where is it coming from

Have you defragged the computer lately? Scanned for viruses or malware? go ahead and download malwarebytes and after running it post the logs, some of the other guys know what they mean and all and will tell you to do that in a few mins.

for some reason i cant download malwarebytes??? i go to cnet then it just sais "your download will begin in a moment" which it never does

okay! so i installed malwarebytes finally and it said my computer is clean. and my ssd had only 5gm left of space, i put all of my games on my hard drive and only things like itunes and drivers and editing software on my ssd

i also upgraded from windows nub to windows ultimate about a month ago

Gm? Unless that is gigs I'm going to say your SSD is way to full and it's slowing down everything by having your drive with Windows on it be almost full. Move some stuff from your SSD to regular HDD.

well windows only took up a little more then half of the 55gb ssd and the rest of the memory is taken up from drivers and small programs

I agree w/ 5gb not enough, remove some program(s) to free up some space, move pf to another drive. After you do see how much free space you gained. Make sure TRIM is enabled and let the pc idle while logged off for 10-15 mins after the next few boot-ups.

There may be another issue for some slowness, but this will at least help save the drive and should speed it up. What happens when it's too full is the controller has to move data around to free up space for what your asking the pc to do. Twice the work, twice the wear, 1/2 the speed.
well windows only took up a little more then half of the 55gb ssd
You should have around 35GB free after Windows.

edit: Have you taken the side panel of and tried to locate the noise? Check the cpu fan 1st.

Have you installed all the drivers (you can download Driver Genius on certain websites IYNWIM).

And from your description it sounds like you're using Internet Explorer. You're not, right..?

I guess i have some deleting to do... And i found out the noise was from my video card so i rma'd it so i guess ill start my pc "spring cleaning" when i get my video card back

A page file is for when you run out of ram so it sticks it on the hard drive. and idk about trim, which isn't good since i have an ssd  but so far seems like win8 doesn't have it yet and i tried getting ocz toolbox and it said i didn't have an ocz ssd in, even though it's my only drive.

What are paging files? And how would i go about setting my trim?

To set the paging file, start > right click computer > properties > advanced system settings > settings under performance > advanced > under virtual memory, click change

Uncheck "automatically manage paging file size for all drives"
For your SSD, choose "no paging file". On your HDD, set it to system managed size.

That should clear up 8GB of space.
