Slow Internet Connection?

My desktop is so unimaginably slow. I'm downloading a 4mb song right now. Not biggie, right? Wrong. It's currently going at a speed of 2.11KB/sec. What the truck? 40 minutes for 1 tiny song? AND I HAVE BROADBAND! ARRRGGH

Oh, and it's at 1.16KB/sec and it froze completely. Rofl. I have a question though, I wanted wireless for my desktop and I have a usb router thingy that's supposed to fit in the usb (lol) and when I plug it in I don't get internet. Any suggestions?

Do you have a wireless router?

EDIT- Also, if you are getting it from a torrent, sometimes they are slow for downloads.

Yes, I have a router. And I don't know if I was downloading a torrent or not >_> And it's a belkin N wireless thing and I have 100% connectivity!

Well if the router isn't working, that is why you can't download anything. What is the router doing?

Well actually I'm using a ethernet cable that has a loose connection or something, and it sucks. The router, when I plug it in, does nothing, except for a little LED light turning on it.

If you are using anything usb, it requires a driver for the computer to recognize it. What usb router do you have? Have you tried resetting your modem to increase your speed? What speed package do you have?

Where could I get the driver? I have a Belkin N wireless usb adaptor. How can I reset my modem? How can I check my speed package? >_< lol

You say you have a belkin wireless usb adapter, but you never say what modem or router you have? Do you have security setup on the router? The adapter should have came with a cd to install the driver, did you use it? We are lacking lots of info and its hard to try to help you without it.
