Slow internet

Hey all!
I've noticed my internet has become unusually slow lately. Websites taking longer to load, Youtube videos constantly buffering, etc.
It's weird cause download speeds are fine (see below), I get a constant 600 Kbyte/s when downloading a file, however surfing the web isn't as smooth (Youtube very slow)...
All the computers on my network have suffered this decrease, hence it's not a software problem.
I check line stats on my router, and found this:

How the HELL can I have such a high Downstream noise margin?
Do all other values look good?
I'm supposed to have a 5'000/500 DSL connection, I get the following results on speed tests:

And router indicates:

Have you done a benchmark of your network card?
Remember this affects all computers on my network, they would all have to have a "faulty" network card.
Anyways, what do you mean by "a benchmark" of my network card?

EDIT: This is false. Internet is actually working fine on one of my computers, two others (using Chrome and Firefox respectively) are slow. One connects via WiFi, the other via Ethernet cable direct to router.

You had any storms with bad lightning lately? If you have, and you didn't unplug it from the power you could have fried it... this happened to my router. it would drop out and not load stuff and the phone wouldnt work when using the internet.

Then telstra came and replaced it, with a new one, and problems are solved.

Have you rebooted your modem/router? Usually that will fix issues like this.

:o:o:o:o

I feel so dumb... LOL I have a lot of things going on and didn't think of the first thing to try: rebooting.

That fixed it thanks! YouTube videos now load fast, websites too...

:gun: this problem had me so pissed off!

LOL something is obviously wrong cause speedtest shows I get 7 times what I pay for, but file download speeds beg to differ, as I still get "only" 600 Kbyte/s!
It also shows a better quality line!

Hi Friend
This is a very important tweak which can help you increase your broadband speed by many times.
Here are the steps :
Click on Start > Click on Control Panel > Double Click on Internet Options > Click on Settings under Advanced Menu > Deselect some of the options which you don’t need generally while browsing example removing Show pictures if you normally use internet connection for check out your emails etc.

Thanks,
James

Well speedtest.net is testing your line, to make sure you are getting what you pay for.

However, your download speed will vary depending where you are downloading from and where the file is hosted. General speaking, torrents will be faster (legal ones!!!!!) because the more popular they are, the more people will be uploading/downloading.

So if you want a real test on your speed, go and download linux from a torrent or something.
