Slow Internet

Hi,

I've been having this problem for a while with my connection. It is really weird. I am using Mozilla and my connection is extremely slow. I have already wiped my computer once and it did nothing. Before the wipe, if I tried to load Google, it would just sit at halfway for a couple seconds then finally load. It would vary from time to time- sometimes loading fast, other times taking a while. So after I wiped it, the problem persisted so I tried using an old network card instead of the motherboard jack. Surprisingly, it acted different and loaded more consistently. Although it was still slow, it seemed to work half decent. Now, it has just gotten soooo slow that it is almost unbearable. I have comcast cable. The other computers on my network perform well without any problems of this sort. Mozilla comes up with a "Problem Loading Page- connection has timed out" sort of deal very often. I think my connection is just extremely inconstant with something bugging it all the time. It really pisses me off.

With limewire downloading stuff, bandwidthplace.com's speed test returned a speed of 2.3 megabits/sec- obviously showing that my connection is very inconstant somehow.

If anyone can help I would really really appreciate it!!! Hell, I'll even paypal 5$ to the person who comes up with the winning fix! If anyone needs more information just ask! I will provide it to the best of my ability!

Thanks,
Alex

Are you connected to a router? Sometimes restarting the modem and router work for me, I know it doesnt sound like a solution, and it may not work, but it's worth a try.
