slow laptop help part 2

A few weeks back I posted that my dell 1534 inspiron was really slow after shutting it down. I updated windows, the browser (Firefox), cleaned the cache, cookies etc. Disk frag, disk cleanup, virus scan (nothing) and uninstalled Mcafee. It worked but only for a short time. Last night I noticed that it was slowing down while I was on the internet so I did a virus scan and essentially what I did before and well no joy. There must be something else going on but I am at a loss to explain it. Any thoughts? This has happened a few times and sometimes I will do one of the things listed above and it will speed up and work well for a week or two but it eventually slows down.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Hey Maxtree,

Is it just laggy during maximizing/minimizing windows and bootup or did it just suddenly just really slow down?

Have you checked to see what the temperatures are in the machine? try using coretemp to see what you cpu is at

Hi, thanks for the reply. No it has just really slowed down. It will be working normally (for a few weeks) then I will notice it slows down (yesterday it went from working fine to being really slow over the day, whenever I did anything, internet etc). I haven't looked at the temp. of the cpu but will do when at home (at college right now). Thank you for your reply
