Slow memory bleed

My computer has started to slowly bleed memory. No matter what I'm doing: surfing, using one program, multi-tasking, or watching TV for that matter, my system memory slowly decreases until nothing will work. Clicking on icons, buttons, X's has no effect. If I'm online, I'm locked to the page I'm on.

I have a slide show in my gadget bar which stops showing pictures. (The clock keeps running.

I can bring up the "start" button, but when I click on "shut-down," I get a msg. that I don't have permission to shut down the machine. The only way I can shut down is to turn off the power strip. I re-boot and the process starts all over.

I'm running 8GB of RAM on a Dell "yuck" Dimension C521.

Any ideas on what could cause this problem and how to fix it?

Take care and Be Well.

I don't know if you know what malware is. Malware is malicious software. It is any unwanted program that means to do harm to a computer and is transmitted to your computer without your knowledge.

Do what Michael suggested, go to link and follow the instructions.
