I bought my pc last year. It was relatively fast for a phone line. But the past 2 months, it has been very slow. I keep checking for parasites but there are only 2 or 3 a the time. What could be the problem???

    1. What are the system specs?
    2. RUnning out of HDD space? That can slow things down :)
    3. How much slower are we talkin about here ... 5-10 seconds instead of 2-3 or 10 minutes kinda deal? :)

I am not familiar with pc at all. Only thing I know is, I have Windows XP, and I have plenty of space left. Its so slow that it might take 15 seconds to have my page....

You can try deleting the prefetch files (they are in c:\windows\prefetch folder) and reboot. Run Disk Cleanup too to delete temporary files. These can slow down your computer.

well if its 56K (phoneline) then 15secs for a page to load is expected. my gf has 56K and its SLOW...around 10 secs for a page and longer for a graphic ridden site. maybe its time for a new modem??

Yeah 15sec isnt too horribly bad, some cleaning (as lorand suggeste) might help that :)
