Slow performance after cleaning

My A900 was covered in dust so I took it apart yestoday and clean it.

It is very clean now but the thing is that I noticed the it is performing slowly compare to before.

I rearranged the cables so i had to pull everything off the connector. I also took out the RAM. I dropped one of the RAM on the floor however. The pc still recognize it.

The RAM was on 3rd and 4th slot when I build it so this time I moved it to the 1st and 2nd. could that be the cause of the slow performance?

for example. when I click on the firefox it will take like 3 or 4 second before it will even pop up.

the 84 movie folders that i have on thum view does not show picture right away. It will just han there as to showing up one after another very fast.

if it is the RAM is there a software that I can use to diagnose to see if there is anything wrong with it?

thanks you

Depending on your m/board (some, esp. the old ones are real picky about how they have the RAM sticks installed), moving your RAM into different slots *might* have caused this, thought *I* don't think this is the case...

Unless you get a lot of BSODs and stuff, it seems unlikely that one of your RAM sticks is damaged, since having faulty RAM installed would probably come with heaps of side effects other than just slowing down.

You didn't mess around with your HDs, did you?

Is the system slower overall, or is it just occasional lagging and such?

My system is firmly up to date so I don't think it would be the mobo.

No BSOD so far.

I unplug the cable to the hardrive when I was cleaning it but I don't think that would cause any damages since there is no power.

thanks for the link imsati.
