Morning, I recently reinstalled windows. When i start up it connects to broadband almost instantly, but then takes anything up to 5 mins. to connect to internet explorer. I use B.B.C as my home page. Help please, best regards, David

Did you use the manufactuer's CD? If not you may need to update your broadband card driver. I had this problem once but mine only loaded what was in the cache and wouldn't connect to a new page at all. Just a thought.

find it in device manager. find the hardware then right click then update driver. (find a better driver). Do ya see any hardware with a yellow exclamation? then the driver is missing.

Im curious as to why you reinstalled windows? Did you format
and do a full install. get all the updates?

Thanks will try that. The reason i reinstalled was because imy unit was infected with a virus i could not shift. All systems were reinstalled fully.

Yeah you likely need drivers for everything. do you have model numbers handy for the machines or are they custom builds?

What is your network adapter? Broadcom ethernet? Just go to View Network Connections from any network-based control panel page. You could even get there through My Network places and over to the left there ought to be a link. The wireless adapter will show either connected, disconnected, etc. We just need to update the driver for that and see how it goes. Also, are you straight to the modem or are you connecting with router as well?
