hi, When I turn my computer on were it ses the processor speed, then the Ram then the drives like hard drive and DVD drives I have a problem.

It says the processor speed as AMD athlon 2000+ and stays like that for about 5 minutes and just stays there untill it finnaly loads.

I have not seen any problems as of yet but it is annoying and I have noticed something strange. The other day is stated the processor as unknown brand 1700+. It is starting to annoy taking ages to load up. Can anyone help.

Tom

something wrong with either your hardware - ie the drives, or cpu, Or software - the cpu drivers maybe.

i would first check the cables.

gets on

I had a similar problem like that once and I had to go into the prefetch folder and delete all of the files in it so that they all didn't try to boot up on startup......might try that, it helped me :)

C:\windows\prefetch. It keeps a record of every program you open so you can open it more quickly (there's really no use keeping all the files). It does help the boot process to delete it all.

Try manually settings the IDE devices rather than have it attempt to detect them

CPU drivers are almost universally unquestionable. Furthermore this problem occurs at boottime so its driver independent

This is pre-OS so none of that applies :)
