slow, unrealiable internet

Hi all...

Ive got dial up internet ( 56K ) and lately its been slow and i always seem to get ''cannot find server''. I have to disconnect and then reconnect 100 times a day just to get to some web pages.
Anyone got any tips to help me out.
Ive done all the usual checks with adware, spybot, anti virus e,t,c but still no luck.

Would these free web acclerators work?

well to me it sounds like a problem with your line... i would get into contact with your telephone service provider and tell them your problem

My internet provider said that everything is o.k. and that it might be my computer that fails to connect to the server on occasions.
But like i said i run all the spyware e.t.c. programms so what can it be.

if you get a lot of noise on your telephone line that can cause problems with dial up because the signal isn't clear enough, a bump in the signal voltage on the provider's end will usually help with this.

also, there may be an underlying problem with windows or internet explorer (or whatever browser you use).
if windows seems to be a lot more sluggish than it used to be i would consider formatting your system and reinstalling it as this usually does wonders for most systems.
however, i would wait until you recieve more replies on this thread before you go doing that as there may be a much simpler solution
