Hi just want to know if someone can help me because my computer starup is so slow then if I gonna put off it will not shut off I have to close it by pressing the button on to the motherboard kinda weird it happens last week up to now. My computer spec- 3.0 Ghz Dual core,1 Gig of memory, 160 Gigabyte -hard drive ,ATI radeon do no the exact spec of graphic cards, I did the command prompt and removed some that startup such as Yahoo Messenger and others but doesn't work.Before this I did a clean up or boot up and installed the operating system XP media center.

Sounds like you could have a failing HDD. Drives get very slow when they begin to fail. Are any programs acting strange when it's booted up? How long has it been doing this, have you made any changes right before this began happening like installing programs?

I can still use my computer the only thing is slow on startup and if I want shut off it didn't even shut off so I will push the button just to shut off the machine. There's no problem in programs when I using it and also going to internet just starting and shutting off is my problem. Since last week up to now. I didn't change any thing just I suspect there's a virus but I did boot up and fresh clean up and install of operating system XP media edition.

Hello everyone
That is one way to get rid of a virus. I think you should did some scans first to be sure if that is the problem. Then eliminate one by one what the real problem is. But please inform us on how that went, thanks:cool:

If you read the thread he's reformatted, so theres a low risk of him having a virus (unless he brought it back onto the system with backed up files).

Also gtfo my CF, it's easy to see your using a loophole in our rules to legitimately advertise.

i did re insert again my back up but before doing the uninstall and install of my OS xp I did a total virus scan there's no virus but it see's some malware the antivirus that I have removed all the malware or spyware my antivirus is Zone Alarm. I even bought a Fix It utitlity software . Any suggestion on solving my problem?

I had the same thing on my PC just yesterday, startup took 20min if it even started. I tried a lot to fix it but I ended up installnig a fresh vista and dumping all the files from the old windows to the new one. That seems to have fixed the problem.

Yap ZeroWing I got the solution by re-installing the Window xp for the second time then installed all the device driver, last time I was not sure what to install -the driver so it slow down starting and not shutting down. Thanks for all the replied.

Create new text document and copy all text(Lower) in text ducument and change format name .txt to .reg
double click on it and test shutdown your computer.
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop]
"AutoEndTasks"="1"
"HungAppTimeout"="2000"
"WaitToKillAppTimeout"="3000"

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control]
"WaitToKillServiceTimeout"="3000"

Do a check disk maybe you have bad sectors witch slow your computer down.

Did the format took longer than usual? I had an old pc with a 6gb hdd with bad sectors and the Format application tried to recover those sectors, and took about 20 mins to format a disk that normally would take under 10.

I save that in documnent Can't figure it out do I need to save that in .reg extension? Formatting took me more than 20mins maybe an hour or so including installing.
