Slow Windows startup

When I open my computer the system reads my DVD-ROM over an over again which can last between 1 and 4 minutes before it initiates Windows which I find not normal. Is there a way to correct this problem:confused:

I take it when you say 'when I open my computer' you mean when you turn it on at the power switch. It could be caused by a slowly failing DVD-ROM drive combined with a badly-ordered boot priority in the BIOS.

At what point does the reading happen during startup? Does it go mad regardless of whether there's a disk inside or not? And have you tried unplugging it to see if windows boots more smoothly?
 
getting worst

Starting this week my computer can take up to 15 minutes before it initiates Windows.Plus on my monitor it displays the type of motherboard that is installed rather then displaying the detection of my hard drive, memory etc...:confused:
 
faulty motherboard

Meening do I have to reinstall my motherboard and or Windows? Or do I need to replace the motherboard?:confused:

I checked the IDE cable and found no problems. Two days ago it seem's it gave it's last breath. I been trying to launch Windows XP but each time I turn the computer on only the green light of my DVD ROM keeps repeting on and on and the hard drive doesn't quick in. For a brane new computer that's only 2 months old it seems I bought a faulty system.:(

Error message

Before my system went AWOL there was an error message, at the buttom of the screen before Windows was initiated.
It said 'CMOS check sum error Backup CMOS'
After which it showed on my monitor LANPARTY NF4 before Windows XP got started.:confused:
