Slower...but should be faster....

i just got my new video card today (eVGA 7600GT) and it seems like things are loading up slower than usual...im playing oblivion, and it flys through gameplay, but everything else is slower (like going through menus and opening up programs etc)

the card does seem to be helping smooth video prefromance out but i think its slowing down the actual system...

any ideas? (my computer is in my signature)

benchmarks are used to test the systems graphics capabilities in its CPU and processor, in the end giving a score. The latest one is 3dmark06

What was your old card? And have you properly removed all drivers and programs that were affiliated with the old card? You may have conflicting driver issues. Or the game may be designed to work better with your older card, depends on the developer/game.

well my old card was integgrated geforce 6100 i think..really sucked...i havent done anything at all to remove the old drivers...but the slowness isnt only for one game...it does it even when windows starts up, its alot slower then it usually did

my only idea for a problem is the power suply which came with my case maybe not giving enough juice?

lol, you HAVE to remove old drivers and software. That's probably your problem. You can't simply switch cards and keep both sets of drivers installed.

You can start by going to the Device Manager and see if it's still showing your integrated under the video adapters, then just right click and select "uninstall".

Also might be in the Add/Remove programs list, I know my ATi drivers always were. Uninstall them, reboot, and install the new ones, reboot, you're done.

ok i checked that and there were nVidia drivers so i unistalled them (but i dont know if they were the new drivers or the old drivers that i unistalled)

i reinstalled the new ones again yet still slow down problems...

where is the device manager (omega) i have no idea what u are talking about

ok under the display adapters menu it says there is the driver for the 7600GT which is correct...but i still get my original problem...

does this type of thing happen when u dont have enough power?

cuz i cant think of anything else:mad:

i higly doubt its a power problem ur cpu is a litle odler and oblivion is optimized on duel core systems so ur cpu itself maybe a proablem because having slower menu loadings and stuff shoudlnt have much efect on ur video card considering it isnt doing much worck to put up a menu i think its ur prossesor most likely

no it does it on all menus (thats what i was trying to say)...like even going through menus in windows or booting up the comp...

the game F.E.A.R. does it too...

with my integrated though, it goes through all of these menus fast (even oblivion)...so i KNOW something is different with the new card...

maybe it could help if i explain the problem a little better....basically when i am playing any game, the cutscenes and movies skip like crap, but the actual gameplay (moving around and shooting etc) runs like a babe...i cant even watch the opening scene in oblivion when the old emperor dude is talking because it skips so bad and even the sound skips (i COULD watch this on integrated video)

rd has a default resolution set wich is higher then the res of ur monitor check ur videa coards settings that might change something and for teh cut scenes if i have no idea maybe ur card si defective because it has teh same graphical capabilites as the 7900gt but with lower frame rates and not that lower anyway another thing is wich pci port do u have it in usually ur mobo has atleast one pci-e so ur card should defenitaly go in that one f it allready is i have no clue

i think its in a PCI express 16x slot and im pretty sure thats what the cards interface or w/e IS...so i dont think thats the problem...

the resolution is only at 800:600 and i have a really crappy monitor (i used it on my win98) so tell me if thats too high settings for it

but remember, with my integrated card everything worked fast except for high quality gaming...so maybe my card is defective...does newegg give replacements for things like this?

if they think it is defective yes and it is only in pci-e x16 if its in the top port the resolution is fine aswell another thing to consider is that the card has to boot up now to but i think ur card might have a slight defect in it if ur integrated rusn faster than ur 7600 in cut scenes other than that i have absolutely no idea
