Slower than usual whats the cause?

Hey guys i built a computer for christmas and once i got it up and running it ran really fast but now as of sunday it goes pretty slow.... (such as when i open up the internet the screen my homepage comes up about 5 to six seconds after just wondering if there was a peticular reason like a certain program that does this i ran ad-aware and it found nothing so i would love it if one of you guys could help me

well, since you ran those scans and there was not problem.. try these

do a disk cleanup. start menu>programs>accessories>system tools
do a disk defragmentor. "" "" "" "" ""
delete the prefetch possibly (or those about 3 weeks old). c:\windows\prefetch

have you recently installed an antivirus program with an ontime scanner?
 
Try using a program such as spybot search and destroy or another spyware program maybe it will find something ad-aware didn't.
 
As you read this pess Alt+ Ctrl +Delete together. Should bring up Task Manager and at bottom of screen you should see % of Cpu useage. Should be 2-3 % range. Higher usage indicates program(s) running in background.

Lagging internet is most likely a bottlneck with the ISP rather than the system
 
go to start > run> and type msconfig

then go to Startup tab and uncheck programs you do not want to run when ur computer starts up. should help with overall speed.

Exactly, I have that same problem right now. There's a tech guy coming in a few days to fix it.
