Small Hardrive problems

I only had a 14 gig hard drive in one of my pc's. I had a trojan virus psw.generic7.axho

I thought i had it taken care of but maybe not or did i?

I did a mircrosoft update which i haven't done in a long time and it was 50 different ones at the same time. Only had 700mb free space on the drive. Could this have caused my hard drive to not work anymore.

I got a message saying FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA then the pc restarts over and over again. won't let me access it at all. not safe mode, not last known good config not anything

When I get another hard drive could i possibly set my old one as slave and get lost things off of it.

Thanks for reading guys. Any input is greatly appreciated.

that should work. just make sure that you use a trusted virus scanner.. you get what u pay for. before you move any of your files off of that drive. and only move the files that you really want.

I got the stuff that I wanted off the hard drive. Tried to restore it to an earlier date as well but it didn't work. Oh well, time for a new HD.

u can format that harddrive and try to reload windows on it. instead of buying a new one. but with only 17gb you would be better off with a new one that is 20 times the size.

Ya i was planning on getting a bigger/newer one. But when I put a working HD in my pc it didnt work correctly. Baffles me because I thought it was the crappy HD and not a piece of hardware or something. I put the bad HD in another pc and it did the same thing so I assumed it was in fact the HD.

LoL 14 GB HDD is so too small today.Way too small...
Anyway backup ALL your important data with the Ubuntu 9.04 and then completely format that drive with the DOS tool called KILL DISK 4.1 and then make a fresh install of Windows OS on it.

NOTE: Be careful that you don't backup any viruses too:D!

Cheers!
