Smart watch?

It doesn't necessarily mean it's not compatible. Their compatibility list is more of a "this will definitely work" guarantee.

If your phone is not on that list, it may or may not work. They don't know and can't tell you.

Your best option is to scavenge the internet forums and see if someone with your phone has a S2 and if they have any issues with it.

I think I will take my chances. My phone is Android 7.0 with 3 gigs of RAM.

Well there you go. Take the chance and come back when it arrives and report back to this thread for anyone else who googles this and can then find out.

You're not going to know until you buy it.

Just. Buy it. If it doesn't work return it.

Just ordered. If it doesn't work I can use my dad's xiaomi phone to get it going. Since it is a standalone watch, I should not really need a phone for it. I got the at&t 4g model.

It's because your phone is new, and wasn't out when they published the Gear S2 compatibility chart.
