TFT VIP Member Jul 27, 2008 #3 Seems like a battery is overheating and failing, there well may be a pressure build up and acid is leaking so it's best to disconnect and remove it.

B Black6 New Member Jul 27, 2008 #4 It turned out to be a bad battery that was overheating. The batteries had expanded so badly that I spend about ten minutes prying them out of the UPS.

jdbennet New Member Jul 27, 2008 #5 i think they are just standard 12v or 24v sealed lead acid batteries, should be able to get replacements in maplin, radio shack etc...
