wich one of these 2 would be best for multitasking while gaming and video/photoediting, i like to run tons of programs and downlaods at once and play games during the same time i would figure the smithfield will out do the 3.6 but just felt like asking and also wanna see if anyone has the smithfield 3.0 dual core

Smithfields dual core LGA 775 W/64 NO-HT

p4 W/64 W/ht LGA 775

Get an AMD... My Intel is at 45C idle and 60C load! (and that's with a Zalman 7700Alcu....the 830 uses 30watts more power...

i dont want amd for this system, my question is go 3.6 P4 or get the Dual Core Smithfield, only reason i question the smithfield is it has no HT unlike the 3.6 has HT

The smithfield is a Dual-Core cpu, it doesnt need HT.

And the AMD X2 would be a much better choice than either of them, its recent tests the AMD X2 series outperformed the intel Pentium D and P4 in all sorts of test from gaming to video encoding.

yea but i already got my LGA 775 socket mobo so i cant get a amd and i got a amd x2 in my other system, so the system im building i want a good intel

The dual core range benefit from Hyperthreading as much as the cingle core, its just reserved for the ee's

how do you like it, and can you pretty much throw all at it?..... mines in the mail on the way and im just curious and anxious to know

It performs very well for the price. The popular phrase "throw anything at it" doesn't apply to any chip though. Of course you can choke them no matter what chip you buy. But yes I play all games just fine at the same time as I do heavy stuff in the background, encode my media fast and doesn't regret this buy one single bit. I'm not going back to single cored chips now that I've experienced this superb multitasking performance. At least not for higher end builds... :)

In other worlds, I really think you'll love your new chip.
