K, wasnt sure where to put this but ok./

My school was giving away some free PCs so i took one., though if it didnt work id throw it off a building or osmething, but it works.

Its a pentium 2 HP.

I got a cheap mouse + keyboard + monitor hooked up to it in my room. But everytime i turn it on it asks for a password

is there anyway to get around this? thanks.

what part of the boot does it ask for the password? at the windows bit? at the bios bit?

um. its loading, at its says like the brand name.

underneath it says press F2 to continue (?)

i press it, then some page comes up says problem with mouse then quickly takes you to a page thats black and says please type CURRENT password

does that help?

take the cover off the system and locate the bios memory clear jumper, its usually labelled jbat1. move the jumper from 1+2 to 2+3 for about 30 seconds. then put it back. this should return all the bios settings to their default values and remove the password protection for the system

or if you dont know the jumpers just take the battery out and unplug the computer. Leave it out for a bit then replace the battery. That will also reset the bios.

ya, not sure if they have jumpers like that in a P2 hp, but just take the battery out for a while, put it back in, and it should be al set.
