so i think newegg sent me a dead PSU

i start my new build..all excited that i finally have a new pc..go to start it up..and NOTHING..:( so im thinkin hmm maybe i installed something wrong...check everything..everything looks good..turn on..NOTHING..damn you newegg
 
Try jump starting the PSU by sticking a metal pin in the green pin and the black pin of the 24 pin motherboard connector.
 
doubt they will reimburse you for the shipping, but its better than having an really overpriced paper weight
 
Well then it's probably not a dead PSU ;).

Check the front panel hook up, and also switch the reset switch with the power switch.
 
Make sure the P4 connector (the 2x2 pin power connector near the CPU) and the 24-pin power connector are plugged in securely, then touch the two power button pins simultaneously with a phillips head screwdriver.

im still a newb in the pc game..can u be a lil more specific?
 
If I remember correctly, long beeps should signal faulty RAM. Try running the system w/ only 1 stick of ram (if you have multiple stick), or different ram if possible if you only have 1 stick.
 
If you look through the manual that came with your motherboard it'll have a section that identifies each beep code for that board.
 
Or just try changing the ports the RAM is in. That's happened to a few people I know and they swapped the RAM port it was in and it worked
