so i ve narrowed it down to these 2 1440p screens...help

I answered your PM. In case you haven't seen it...

Hey sorry about the late reply, been crazy busy lately.

I went from 2 21.5" 1080 displays to one 30" I do not want to go back at all. But I am a sucker for multi monitor so I decided to get the other two Having the extra vertical space is so nice and the extra horizontal space makes working on 2 things side by side way easier. Most of the benefit for me was the extra space to work. Games look amazing on it, even with no AA or AF just the amount of pixels will make the picture amazing.

What is really holding you back? Price? Refresh Rate? Gaming Performance at 1440? I'll never go back if I don't have to, but that is my own experience. Have you ever sat in front of one? If there is an Apple store nearby try out their LCD Cinema Displays. It's the same thing as the Dell 27" 1440s. Get a feel for what that many pixles feels like.

It's completely up to you, but I am so happy that I made the switch. Everyone else that I know of that moved up is happy as well. But it is your money... Do what feels right for you.

well honestly I feel that 1440p is right for me....5ms....and im not concerned about response...im sure I can develop an eye for what im looking for

If you want to make the change to 1440, I think you found the right one. That Refurbished Samsung monitor is pretty awesome for the price. All that you really need to figure out is if you want to go for it or not. I can help with the tech specs on picking the right one, I can't really help you figure out if you want to make the jump or not. That's the tough part I guess :P

I ordered the Samsung last night. $462, and if I don't like it I can return it with in 14 days for a full refund. if I do like it, then I have a 3 year warranty on it. tigerdirect states that it has a 5 year warranty, but I called Samsung and it is 3years. I call tigerdirect, and they confirmed that it is a misprint. still though, 3 years is a good warranty. Samsung said if anything goes wrong with it, aside from physical damage caused by myself then they will fix it, and if it cant be fixed then they will give me a new monitor. should be here by the 3rd of march, which will be my birthday. looking forward to checking this new resolution out. spending that much money on a screen was the hardest part, but now that I did it, im over it. and im sure once it gets here and have the chance to see the difference next to my 25" 1080p monitor, ill be happy I spent it. ill be back with updates as soon as it gets here. thanks again for all the help.

well, I got the monitor. I was initialy unhappy because it had bad backlight bleed. but after tinkering with the settings and what not, it is no longer an issue. I compared the monitor with my 1080p in games, and even when I turn down some of the aa in game, the 1440p still looks smoother and sharper than the 1080p monitor with all settings maxed out. the size is great, and the quality picture is fantastic. gaming in 1440p is deffinatly worth it over 120hz in my opinion. way nicer graphics quality, and great color.

so far its good to go. games look good, and even though I have to lower game detail in certain games, after doing screen shots, the 1440p looks better with lower settings than the 1080p with settings maxed out. I also hit 2.5 to 3gigs of vram on average.
