So a few days ago I'm looking for a new laptop because my current one is wayyyyy outdated(366mhz, 160RAM, 6GB, Gateway Solo). So I look on Ebay & Amazon.com and I noticed one thing......there's so many Dell Laptops for sale it's unbelievable:eek:!
I'm looking for ANY cheap used laptop with at least 1.4 Ghz & I see nothing but DELL DELL DELL! Is there something wrong with Dell Laptops that there's so many for sale for cheap? I mean there are a few IBM Laptops that look good as well with an affordable price, but I want as much as I can get for my money. The thing is when I look at Dell computers & their high specs with low prices makes me think I might get ripped off :(

What do ya'll think about this? Are Dell Laptops good to buy? Do they last long(4 years at least)?

How much are you willing to pay?
Go to newegg.com and have a look. Compare what you can get there and what is the price from Dell.

Well I'm willing to pay anywhere from $350-$450. I don't need that much RAM..just 512MB, 30GB with 1.4 GHZ at least with XP installed.

then why dont you just get one from ebay?
you can get good ones for a very very inexpensive price!

I would get one from ebay but it's around that time of year where people are going VERY EARLY X-Mas shopping as I could see(I been keeping my eye on ebay laptops throughout the year). And it seems like everyone is trying to get a laptop there, therefore leading to higher bids & the imfamous "Being Outbidded by 4 Seconds!".

I'm looking for something very close to this
http://www.laptopcloseout.com/usa/en-us/dept_38.html
It cost $399 but it might be for only limited time.
Is this a good price for this kind of laptop? Coming from DELL that is...

If you're willing to go up to $450 then there is no reason no to go with a brand new laptop... in my experience used laptops are almost always way over priced. Most laptops that were $2000 a couple of years ago shouldn't be worth more than $200 today, but people can't stand to take that sort of loss. I see all kinds of used laptops posted that are priced more than a better brand new laptop.

Since you're on a budget, the Dell Vostro series is the way to go. These laptops are the most affordably priced of any that I have seen anywhere. For $450 you can get a Sempron 3500+ and 512MB or RAM. However, if you can stretch it, the $500 one is much better. For $500 you'd be looking at 1GB RAM, 1.73GHz dual core Athlon X2 processor, DVD burner and an upgraded battery.
