so slow

all of a sudden my computer just starts moving so slow. it took 30secs to change windows and a min to start a program. any ideas whats up? i ran a virus scan along with all my other programs and its fine.
 
I would defrag your hard drive ( Start > All Programs > Acessories > System Tools > DIsk Defragmenter)
 
thanks . the process thing the system idle process uses 9x of the cpu everything else uses 0 or 1. svchost uses all my memory (26k). i am gonna run cprocess to see what else is in there. i will defrag my HDD a few times

edit also my video card, the max resolution is 1280x1024. shouldnt it go higher than that?

The "system idle process" is actually your free cpu usage, so if it's at 92%, then your only using 8% of your CPU.
 
The video card can go much higher, but it's most likely only showing you resolutions that your monitor can handle.

Yea probably a 17-19inch monitor. How much free space do you have on your main hard drive?
 
also, my internet connection goes out randomly. its not my isp because it works on my other computers, it just goes out page not found all the time
 
run Panda ActiveScan, just 2 make sure you have no nasties on your system, google/yahoo Panda Scan, it's a online scanner.
 
i figured out that i cant use mozilla or IE when i am running WampServer on my comp. any idea why? its set up to use my comp as a web server but shouldnt i be able to use to still use the net?
