okay been doing alot of reading i am bout to dump like 1200 into a new gaming machine and im a noob but i keep reading how these 45nm processor guna make the q6600 old so i guess i should just wait like all u saying right?and out of gtx gts gt nvidia 8800 cards is gts liek middle man but i read how the gt 8800 was bad ass but gt seems to be liek the lowest one. but back to waiting least if i wait ill have money built up from x mas and work and deff have liek around 1300 to spend.

Yes it is better to wait for the new 45nm chips rather than getting the Q6600.

As for videocards, the 8800GT is currently the best deal, it outperforms the 8800gts, and is near the performance of the 8800gtx. The new G92 8800gts however will be better, but also more expensive.

And there you go.

okay then does anyone know if its guna be early january or late january lol i need new comp i wanna play al lthe new games lol . my comp only handles games like war craft 3 and counter strike lol

Yeah the best option is to wait, I'm waiting till mid January before making my decision. Before I build my beast. :D

No release dates on the new Intel chips?
From what I hear it will be Q1 of 2008, although I don't know which month.

As for waiting on certain parts, there will always be something new around the corner, however IMO it depends how far around the corner that technology is.

For instance, back in November of 2006 nVidia released the 8800 series, and a few months earlier Intel released the Core 2 Duo series. Now in November of 2006 I purchased an 8800GTS 640MB, Core 2 Duo E6300, 2GB of DDR2-800 RAM, etc. Now if I had stuck with it, that would still be considered a high end system over a year later, with really nothing new coming out since then.

However in your case, in a few months newer video cards and processors will be out, so you may want to wait and see what happens with that.

i seen something like january 20th i think unless that was something else. i also have another question. what mother boards that are good rating that support the new processors? im trying to stay with nvidia chipset too

IMO in the computer hardware world, there is never a good time to buy anything because something bigger and better is always on the horizon. its true that the 45nm chips will outperform the Q6600 when they are released but it wont be long before something is out that does the same to the newer chips. and when the 45nm comes out, your q6600 wont all of a sudden be obsolete or anything like that, it will still be a high end CPU for quite some time

If they really are being released in early january, then wait. I can see waiting a few weeks for a new tech. But people who say "Oh Ill wait for a few months and see whats out" thats just stupid.

I agree with -Omega-. It really depends on how far away the new tech is. Why get a lower processor when you can get a better one for the same price in a couple weeks.

few weeks = wait
few months = now

least in my book.

yea thats what i was guna say if its coming out soon then ima wait but if it would be months then yea id just deal with buying all the stuff thats out now

well i have decided to wait till january to dump like 400 on a proc mobo and ram, then the month after that ill buy a new video card, so january and feb seem the time to make it happen
