OK, one thing I don't get is why DX10 can only be on vista?! Can someone tell me the reason why they cant have it on good Ole XP?

It's because the way they designed Vista, and how Vista addresses the hardware. From what I hear, with DX10 and Vista games are suppose to talk more directly to the hardware, without having to go through as many drivers, which should increase performance significantly (think of it as like a gaming console).

Direct3D10 finally completes the break from the legacy fixed-function pipeline. Developers will use the programmable pipeline to emulate the older, fixed-function steps. Additionally, Microsoft had to rethink its display driver model now that the entire desktop is going 3D. The video card isn't just for games anymore. When you have a 3D desktop and give each application its own 3D window, the display driver has to be flexible and stable enough to handle the video card's increased role in the system. Microsoft split up the display driver to increase stability, to ensure that the 3D desktop stays up in the event that a game or another application crashes due to a graphics error. This change also means that Microsoft will not release DirectX 10 for Windows XP, because many of the Direct3D10 improvements will need the new Windows Vista Display Driver Model.

But I have heard there coming out with a DirectX 9.0L for XP thats suppost to be something like DirectX 10

There are different reports about what DX9L is but the most recent one says it is DX9 for Vista.

Most of the rumors that DX9.0L is basically DX10 for XP, was started my the Inquirer. Then the next day, they wrote another article saying they were wrong, and that 9.0L allows you to play DX9 games on Vista.

I have a feeling it does allow you to play games on Vista, but since it was from the Inquirer, you can't be too sure ;)

Oh, sort of like what I recall Windows 95 being able to do, compared to XP.
What's old is new again, apparently...

A wild guess I would say your right, but I dont think we will see a DirectX 9.0L downlod, it will probably be stuck in the final DirectX 10 download.

Then Whats The Point Of Getting Vista If You Only Have A Dx9 Card???
Vista has alot more to offer then simply being able to play DX10 games.

Ya, I have a feeling 9.0L isnt an actual version, but is what they call a part of DX10, which it then uses when it needs to use a DX9 game or DX9 card.
