Socket 7 Processors

Are they still made? If so, where can I get one?

I am in the process of upgrading an old Compaq Presario 5190 computer ( It came with Windows 98 and 128 MB of RAM), and I have decided that the processor is a little slow for my liking. I determined that the interface for the processor is Socket 7 Super 7TM 321 Pin CPGA (as per the RadioShack service manual).

Feel free to ask any questions you have, I will try my hardest to answer them.

LOL, you're kidding, right?

The fastest processor they made was I beleive the AMD K6-2 533MHz. All in all, it wasn't much, if any faster than the Pentium MMX 233. Your best bet would be looking for some other motherboard.

I really don't want to have to get a new motherboard for this computer, because it's in a Compaq MiniTower, and it seems like the OEM motherboard would be the only thing that would fit in there. If not, let me know. Thanks.

"You’re bidding on a AMD Athlon K-7 Socket 7 950mhz"

Be careful what you bid on. I know for a fact that auction IS NOT a socket 7 O.O More like socket A
