Socket 754 doesnt read Dual Channel, but will having 2 sticks of 512MB PC3200, make a difference.. or would it be better to just have a single stick of 1GB PC3200... HeLP a BroTHeR OuT :D :) !!!

If not overclocking I would go with the 1GB stick leaving more room for upgrading. If you overclocking 2X512 ram might be better because you can get better timming out of it. I suppose it possiable to get a 1gb stick with great timing but that going to cost you.

I have the same situation but I went with 2 512 chips for the simple fact that there was a significant price difference.....but also I had no plans for overclocking....... :rolleyes:
 
well there is no point in leaving room for upgrading.. because the board doesnt read Dual Channel, and if im gonna run to sticks of somethin, its gonna be 2x 512MB... so im still not sure if i should get 1GB or 2x512MB.... hmm ... anyone else got somethin to add to this.. thanks!

Well, if you're not going to upgrade just get 2x512, it'll be cheaper and the performance won't be any worse

Actually when you have the 2 sticks u'd be running CR2 rather than CR1 :). Running CL2.5 with CR1 is better than CL2 and CR2

I suppose it possiable to get a 1gb stick with great timing but that going to cost you.

Same (as what)? It should be comparable to a dual channel board running in single channel mode

so i should get a Single stick of 1GB?

Please Note.. ill be getting rid of the 512MB i have now :D

Yes. If you can afford it. 1GB sticks tend to be a bit more expensive

Running 2 DIMMs allows you to run CR1 rule 4 DIMMS tends to mean CR2

The comparison still stands as the Command Rate latency is present on both :)
 
get 1*1gb then you can always upgrade add more in at a later date wereas 2*512mb will take 2 banks up whats the point???

1. 2x512 is usually cheaper than 1x1024 and if you dont care about CR2 vs CR1 then its not a bad deal
2. If you need the kinda performance 2GB of RAM is gonna give you, socket754 wouldnt be the route to go anyways
