hey,

I was looking on at motherboards on a website and wanted a socket 775 board, these were then split into catagories for (intel 924/945/955) and (intel 965/975)
and (intel 915) what do these different things mean?

thanx

What processor do you have/want? If you want a Core 2 Duo, you have to get a 965 or 975 based board (there are some 945s that support Core 2 Duo, but not many). Either way you look at it, it is best to get a 965 based board (or 975 if you have plenty of money).

i will most likely be using a celeron D (older sytem) and in the future maybe dual core pentium 4's, if this detail is not specified how would i be able to tell what it is?

All socket 775 motherboards will support Pentium Ds and Celeron Ds, but only select models will support Core 2 Duo.

If your looking at using a Celeron D for a while, then upgrading, you should buy the 965/975 motherboards so you can use the Intel Core 2 Duo.
