Socket AM3 - X2 240 Upgrade Path Question

Hi there,
I have a question regarding upgrading my Athlon X2 240 AM3 cpu.
I looked at the AM3 faq and it appears that any AM3 cpu can be installed in an AM3 socket.
Is that assumption correct ?
i.e. can I upgrade my X2 240 to any of the higher level AM3 cpus (with adequate power supply and cooling of course)?

Yes any AM3 Processor should fit any mobo with a AM3 socket ,Although id look over your mobo specs and make sure it can handle what processor your trying to install....you could ned a Bios update.

If i was you,and you have the cash id look into getting a Phenom 2 965

It really also depends if you have an original equipment manufacturer motherboard. They aren't known to be very upgrade friendly when it comes to processors.
