Software enquiry about pending home build

Hi board members

I posted Qs yesterday about the ins and outs of building a pc myself.

I'm almost at the stage of posting a budget and purpose thread where I intend providing the knowledgable members of this forum with intended specs.

But I've just researched online the cost of Windows7 and have discovered how damn expensive it is to buy outright - $499 for the ulitmate version and lesser for the other two versions.

Now if I go with a Dell pc Windows7 sells for a song by comparison.

Is there a way of getting Windows7 cheaper - cause at that price I can't see the point of a home build as opposed to a Dell.

Can you guys set me straight on this issue please.

It is made by microsoft, it just doesn't come with Microsoft support or any manuals, just the cd and key.

OEM = Original Equipment Manufacturer
 
OEM is pretty much anything manufactured by a factory or big company.
No matter were you live you should be able to purchase OEM products, especially when it's Microsoft were talking about.
