software or hardware issue?

Hi, I tried searching the forums but I couldn't really find anything to address this. I built my PC in the spring, specs are: Asus M3N78-VM, Athlon 7750BE, 2GB RAM and using the built in video card, keyboard is Logitech internet 350 USB http://ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=26248&vpn=967740-0403&manufacture=Logitech. I'm running windows XP and have done a full virus and spyware scan. The computer works fine except for whenever I try to play a PC game, the keyboard won't work at all, only the mouse. Why would the keyboard work fine all the other times but not during gaming?

Update your manufacture drivers
And check to see you have the latest Bios installed from what is listed at your manufacture support page
I'm thinking a USB issue, hopefully just driver conflict; but you could plug in another keyboard to test it

Forgive my ignorance but how do I go about updating the drivers? Do I have to download them from there website? I tried logitech's site but can't find the right driver for my keyboard.

if you know the model of the keyboard do a google search of <model number> drivers.

If it is USB, as kimsland says, it is probably a USB driver issue. You can try using an adapter (which may have come with your keyboard) which converts the plug from usb>purple keyboard jack.

Does it work on another computer (if you can test it on another)

What game is it aswell and is it legit?

Actually, as he said, it's a built PC, so it's a higher probability to have a USB or keyboard driver issue.

I'm very thoughtful of this, and don't think this matters actually.

@ bold

I know that, but it isn't the only possibility. Why would i go and say, it is probably a USB issue, when a poster right before me said exactly that? I gave other ways to test it and work arounds if he can't get it to work

It may be a known issue with compatibility with certain games and certain hardware, that is why i ask the game

I ask if it is legit bceause if it is a torrented game it really wouldn't surprise me if the issue was with the game itself or no cd patch or whatever else was used to get it to work

i highly doubt if the game is legit or not legit would ever be the problem, unless the crashes or does not run properly then it might be a question to ask. Like they said try a different usb port, or see if some1 you know has another usb keyboard you could try. or even try a ps/2 keyboard. after i googled around about your keyboard, unless your using an older operating system than windows 2000 you should not have a driver issue, that is why logitech does not have the drivers on their site because win 2000 and up will auto install the drivers. so i would start by trying a dif keyboard or usb, ive never came across a game that had this but maybe usb needs to be enabled in the options. Also you could try to google the game and problem your having, there may be a patch to fix it.
