i started building a computer somewhere alst year, and i had some problems with the hardware, but i got it to work sucesfully. but then there was something wrong with my software. for some reason, it has trouble loading, like sometimes it will just stay on the loading screen that says "microsoft XP" and my comp wont load. ive tried updating all my drivers, updating the bios, and reinstalling windows, but nothing seems to work. if you have any ideas of what seems to be the problem, could you plz tell me???

Recently when the last case used here saw a cpu overheat Windows started locking up right at reaching the desktop. That wasn't a software problem there. But the total reinstallation of Windows and your main programs along with updating the bios and drivers for hardwares suggests a hardware fault as very likely.

There are a few things to look at like even a weak battery that came with the board if no defects are present. Flaws with the installed memory can see problems with system locks as well. But since you had problems being seen last year as well as now does suggest the board itself as being the problem. How good is the cooling methods used there? Cpu temps are known to cause lockups.
