Software Setup

Everyone have different software to do specific tasks and free software is always nicer. Now, I took a look at the freeware list but I still can't seem to find all the right software I want.

What software do you really like using?

I run windows 7

Well for the time being I might need some new antivirus software I use AVG 2011. I read that a lot of CF users like to get 2 antivirus software.

Then I need a software that will do backups on a schedule with a simple GUI. Everything I've tried so far tells me I don't have enough space on my destination drive. I have 2 2tb WD Caviar green.

Then some encryption software. (I have truecrypt but I'm not familiar with it.)
I also want to backup all my dvds to my HDD so I'm looking for a software that can help me here. Then I would need anything you find essential for your windows system.

In order of priority.
Antivirus
backup software
encryption software

in no particular order
dvd ripper
.exe to vb.net software
media player software (I'm getting tired of Winamp)
remote desktop software

i wouldn`t suggest running 2 anti-virus at the same time theres a good chance they would conflict.

i like avg 10 and microsoft security essentials 2.0 for anti-virus

either malwarebytes or iobit security 360 for malware

backup give e a s e u s todo backup a try, sorry bout the letter gap, but site covers it with ******

for encryption try my lockbox, it`s really good and easy to use.

all these programs are free download

I tried this and I got the message saying I didn't have enough space on my destination drive to do a complete backup.

2 Western Digital Caviar Green 2TB. I just notice while looking at my computer my second drive is almost full. I'm convinced that this happened while I tried to do a backup because I have about 500gb of data not 1.8TB And my second drive was always empty. Should I format my second drive and start from scratch with another backup software?

if theres nothing on important on your second drive yeah format it to ntfs, you could always try image backup using macrium reflect.

for remote desktop, try teamviewer

for media players, vlc media player, realplayer or xbmc media centre, also theres adobe media player you need adobe air in first to use it.

I just downloaded malwarebytes and am currently running a scan I will format my second drive but which software could I use for backing up?

yes i think so it`s a much nicer gui, its now a top recommended program, i`ve been using it for ages from when it was in beta, gives you details of every component, even tells you you hard drive type and rpm spin speed. www.piriform.com

I tried handbrake again and there doesn't seem to be a way to go past my DVD encryption. I purchased this DVD's and I want a digital copy in the event I lose my DVD or they get scratched.

it`s not illegal to make a backup copy of a disc you own, it`s just forum rules dont let you discuss any software that by passes copy protection.
