solder a mother board?

i heard that most hp laptops start actin up cause they have shitty chinese motherboards that have easily fried circuits. i was gonna try to find them and re-solder the little buggers myself, till someone on this forum advise me not to. is this true? is too dangerous to fix myself? i got a low temp soldering iron as to not put the board above 400F.

If all thats wrong with the mother board is a broken track/s then you will be fine using a soldering iron, I have had to repair a parallel port on a HP laptop due to overuse and broken tracks. I suggest you get hold of a digital volt meter and beep though the tracks just to make sure they are broken... The tracks on the laptops are also tiny and require a skilled solderer and a bit of time.

Also as long as you don't have it plugged in or anything like that I can't see any dangers.

usually its the soldering around components cracking after some time. in dutch those are called 'cold solder connections' not sure what it is in english. either way, if its a track damaged, youre pretty much doomed to throw it away (since motherboards are multi layered boards (they usually have between 4 and 8 layers of tracks iirc, ofcourse, I could be wrong there, so feel free to correct me). anyways, yes, you could solder it, however finding the problem usually is the hard part ;)

i see, i see. very interesting..

What's the lowest temp that could cause a random restart for a hp dv8000t. I've been watching the temp, trying to keep it below 52c. i never thought it'd restart till AT LEAST 60c. accurate?

PS. DIROGA, i'm gettin an error on your that link of yours. **** yea WA! USA USA!! lol
