Hi all, been thinking lately about upgrading to solid state, I would like things to load up quicker, would this make a big difference. Because they don't generally have a big capacity I was thinking of putting windows and all the programs onto that and using the 1tb h.d.d for music, video's and stuff. Also are there any poor/good makes to look out for?

Take a look at this thread:

http://www.computerforum.com/192436-setup-manage-ssd.html

That will explain everything for you. You just want to make sure most of your programs/files go to your other hard drive, depending on how big of a drive you get.

thank you, I did think about having a look to see if someone else had started a similar thread but since it wasn't on the first page and don't know if there is a way to search for a particular thread I made a new one

The good news,Your Motherboard according Gigabytes specs, supports SATA 6 Gbps so dependent on your budget try and get SATA 6 Gbps Drive.

Ones i would recommend would be-

OCZ (Vertex 3/Agility 3 series)
Corsair (Force 3)

Crucial are okay,But for some reason allot of their drives have poor write speeds compared to other cheaper and faster drives.

Yes much faster,I could never go back to a standard HDD now for my OS/Games drive.
I have one for my OS and one for my games....very snappy.

Thread moved to Computer Memory and Hard Drives. :)
