solid state HDs finally in the market

Why would you need to buy one?
Normal hd's are fine the way they are arn't they?
Unless there faster. I'll give them credit though, they look tiny!

solid state = less power consumption, faster access, no moving parts, and generate less heat, and they are way faster.

Solid State drives have been around for quite a while. I about purchaesd one off ebay once. Plus, what about say Compact Flash cards. There are some CF to IDE converters that allow for two CF cards.

Not to get you wrong, though...there is progress and I hope it continues. I'd really like to switch over.

To nffc10: Solid state drives could be faster, but mostly they are more stable. You hit a typical hard drive hard enough while it's running, and you ruin it. You hit something solid state, it'll keep going until you physically break it in half :P

sure there has been tons of talk about solid state and with EFI technology it kind of implies HDs will be solid state in the future anyways. However, this is the first time you will start seeing solid state drives in actual machines. Which is a step in the right direction IMHO.

Yeah sure you could buy 4gig flash drives and toss them into a rig, and they even have the hybrid drives which are partially solid state.
