some help with graphics card

i read the thread about graphics cards 101 but what would be a good card to run halo on pretty good say around $150 usa. i am thinkin nvidia but i dont know
and right now i got a nvidia mx4000 64mb and that was my upgrade a year ago lol any suggestions?

That card should run Halo ok...i used to have one and i could get away with having things on medium. If its just for Halo you can pick up a really cheap card like the XFX Geforce 5200 FX...That will run Halo fine with everything on max.

However it not going to be the best at alot of modern games if it runs them at all. So what other types of games are you looking at buying/playing. :)
 
i dont really know i kinda want to get into some games more - do you have any recommendations for games ? maybe age of empires 3 (any good?)
 
I have Age of Empires 3. If you like RTS its a good game (i think). And i used to play that on my mx4000 64mb also.

As for game suggestions what type of games are you into RTS, FPS, Racing etc...?
 
For around 150 an nVidia 6600GT would be a good choice to run Halo and similar games with good quality.

My friend has a FX5200 and he cannot play Age of Empires 3 on low settings without terrible jerking. Did you mean age of empires 2?

And yes, go with the 6600GT. Age of Empires 3 rocks if you have the graphics capability.

No i didnt. I meant Age of Empires 3 it worked without lagging on my Geforce 4000mx.
 
i did look up 6600 gt and is is like $250 but 6600 is $150? but anyhow what is theis pny and stuff on the nvidia like what is that?

also i recommend looking at the X800's they perfrom as good if not better than the 6600's. also i think thiers a X800GTO for ~$150 and thier better becuase it has more pipelines and you can OC it to X850 level.
