so, in my room, which is in basement, i get about 10% wireless signal, because the router is upstairs. i have tried other wireless cards and none get good signal so my internet just comes and goes at random times. so i decided to go another way, Ethernet cable. i need 100ft and i found some at overstock.com, it is cat5. will this be too slow since it is 100ft? or should i buy cat6, which is only a couple dollars more. thanks. BTW, cat5 is $11 and cat6 is $17 after shipping.

Cat 5 will be fine. Unless your whole network is cat 6 then it won't make a difference in speed.

Ummm I think the maximum length for cat5 cable is 325ft. also wireless is slower than cat5. half the bandwidth of wireless is used in overhead the other half data. there is nothing like a wired network connection. there are also network cards that use your house wiring. Linksys used to make some.
